I started dipping into the line of our Pettys that ended up in Utah. I found that Catherine Petty, married to Albert Petty was a distant cousin.
THEN I discovered that there is a book about them written my their grandson. Unfortunately, it can't be downloaded except by a college. But it can be read. (see tips below)
There are some tricks to reading this comfortably. First thing I do is make the box, that the pages show up in, as large as possible by holding down the Ctrl key and rotating the mouse wheel. Then I click the full-screen icon (four arrows). From there I can zoom in with the magnifying glass icon. When I get to an image that is sideways, I can rotate them and the rest of the pages stay upright. Nice feature.
It's really an interesting history not only of Albert and Catherine, but the beginning of the Mormon church and the migration to Utah.
OH, and one important detail. When you take a break from reading, be sure to note what page you're on. That way you can easily find your spot again.
In which I search for the Pettey, Welch, Jeffrey, Willis and Crane families.
